１チームの人数

メールマガジンで「アイスホッケー」を取り上げたら、COBUILDの説明文で「１チーム１１人」って書いてあったのですよね。
調べてみたらアイスホッケーは１チーム６人・・・。
じゃ、この１１人っていうのは何なんだろう。ベンチ入りできる人数かしら。
でも、今まで他のスポーツの説明文で、ベンチ入りできる人数が書かれていたケースなんてないはず。

Ice hockey is a game played on ice between two teams of 11 players who use long curved sticks to hit a small rubber disk, called a puck, and try to score goals.

ふむ～、やっぱりベンチ入りじゃなくて、実際にフィールドで競技する人数ですよね。

マイナーなものも見てみようと思ったのですが、ただでさえスポーツには疎いのに、マイナーな団体スポーツなんて知らない・・・。
それにしてもちょっと気になるのでCOBUILDに聞いてみようかな。

やはり、すぐに冷めましたね。

higuchiさんの、おっしゃる通りです。
これは、COBUILDの間違いのようです。つまり、field hockeyの人数と取り違えているようです。CODには、次のように記載されています。
ice hockey
a fast contact sport developed from field hockey, played on an ice rink between two teams of six skaters, who attempt to drive a small rubber disc or puck into the opposing goal with hooked sticks
つまり、各チームとも6人ずつでする競技なのですね。
一昨年、NHLのゲームを生で見る機会に恵まれました。
ピッツバーグ・ペンギンズと相手はどこだったか…その日対戦する両軍・選手の成績等が小冊子になっていて、ハーフタイムにはバーで飲んだり、結構楽しめました。
