ゴルフで、パーより少ない打数でホールを終えることがあります。
１打少ないとバーディといいますが、これは「鳥のように華麗に飛んだショット」ということが由来だそうです。
で、２打少ないとイーグル、３打少ないとアルバトロスといい、それぞれワシ、アホウドリなわけですが、今日はそもそもの基準である「パー」を見てみましょう。

全然関係ありませんが、最近は「たけちゃんマン」とか「ぱーでんねん」みたいなのが出てくるお笑いってないですよね。
さて、今日はさらに stroke も見てみましょう。

ボールを打つという動作。
ゴルフに限らず野球とかテニスとか・・・。
でも、別のスポーツでも「ストローク」という言葉が出てくることがあります。

出てくるのは水泳、もしくは、ここで出てきたように rowing（ボートレース）です。
水泳やボートでの「一かき」がストロークですね。

私の父は過去10年の間に三回もstrokeで倒れて入院しています。今、その後遺症で半寝たきり状態です。 痛くて悲しい名詞です、stroke（脳梗塞）って。
