R&B と ロックンロール

メールマガジンでは rhythm（リズム）を取り上げました。
rhythm & blues（R&B）のリズムですね。
この R&B がどんなふうに書かれているのか、早速見てみましょう。

Rhythm and blues is a style of popular music developed in the 1940’s from blues music, but using electrically amplified instruments. The abbreviation R&B is also used.

ブルースやジャズから発展してきたのが R&B なのですね。
また、久しぶりに abbreviation が出てきました。
〜〜の略ということですね。
さて、R&B をみたら、やっぱりロックンロールも見ておかないわけにはいきません。

特に私の好きなハードロックやヘヴィメタルは、LDOCE には次のように書かれています。
[hard rock]
a type of rock music that is played loudly, has a strong beat, and uses electric instruments
[heavy metal]
a type of rock music with a strong beat, played very loudly on electric guitars
説明文自体はあまり変わらないといえば変わらないのですが、ヘヴィメタルは very loudly ということですか・・・。

とは書かないんですか？
Ｒ＆Ｒって書くとレッドリボン軍みたいになっちゃうからかなぁ？
ん〜、R&Rというのも見かけますが、書くとしたらrock ‘n’ rollかな、私の場合。
「アールアンドアール」っていうよりは「ロックンロール」っていうほうがカッコいいですしね。
音の場合、｢リフ｣ともいいますよね。
「リフレイン」ってことかしらん？
一般的にはわかりませんが、ギターで「リフ」といったときには、いろいろな意味がありますねぇ。
大抵は、曲の中でよく出てくるフレーズっていうことでしょうから、リフレインの略なんでしょうね。
