メールマガジンでは tissue を取り上げました。先日の「花粉症」つながりです、実は。
で、英英辞典の tissue の項目にはこんな説明文も載っていました。

the material forming animal or plant cells

In animals and plants, tissue consists of cells that are similar to each other in appearance and that have the same function.

ちょっと専門的ですね。
cell というのは、もちろん Excel とは関係なくて（ちょっとは関係ありますが）、細胞ということです。その細胞でできているのが tissue ですね。
生体組織と訳されることが多いようです。
