メールマガジンでは花粉症を取り上げました。
その説明の中に見慣れない pollen という単語が出てきたのでしたね。意味はもう想像できていると思いますが、それを見てみましょう。

日本語でもここまでさらっと説明することは難しいかもしれませんね。
fine powder とあります。この fine は「細かい」ということです。
COBUILD に出てくる fertilize というのがまた見慣れませんが、「受精させる」ということです。
